Fish-T1K (Transcriptomes of 1,000 fishes) project was officially launched by BGI in November 2013, with the aim of generating genome-wide transcriptome sequences for 1,000 diverse species of fishes using RNA-seq. This resource will greatly advance the study of fish biology, eventually contributing towards global fish biodiversity conservation efforts and sustainable utilization of natural resources. In addition, the project will promote development of new technologies and softwares for transcriptome sequencing, data analysis, annotation, and storage.
To establish an unprecedented large-scales, high-quality fish transcriptome database and make the resource available to the community.
To establish protocols and standards for genome quality sampling of fishes.
To develop new tools for data analysis and management.
To foster extensive global collaboration on fish omics study.
Fish-T1K aims to bring together internationally recognized experts in ichthyology, fish taxonomy, molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, evolutionary biology, computational biology, and systems biology to work closely on the project. You are invited to participate in the Fish-T1K project by proposing specific projects, supplying fish specimens, and analyzing the data.
We hope you will be interested in joining this global effort aimed at understanding the evolutionary biology of fishes. For more information on becoming a member of Fish-T1K, please contact us at email@example.com.
